Calculates the investment needed to generate an income based on yield. For example, if you want $50,000 per year in income and are willing to tolerate the risks for a 6% yield, the amount needed would be near $833333.33. This calculator can be used to calculate for retirement. Higher dividend yields are usually from riskier investments. Some corporate junk bonds yield near 7%, some closed end funds can yield 10%, and real estate investment trusts can yield near 5%. Some stocks have steady yields; AT&T yields near 4%.
